Aiki Ju Jitsu is a traditional martial art and is the forerunner of aikido, judo and karate. The techniques incorporate striking, throwing, joint locks and chokes. It was originally a battlefield art and is perhaps the comprehensive of all martial arts.
The techniques of Aiki Ju Jitsu are highly practical for self defence and have been used by military and law enforcement agencies throughout the world for many generations. This style of Ju Jitsu can be practised by people of all ages and levels of fitness and is not intended to be a competitive or sport martial art though some students do go on to compete in different disciplines. In addition to the empty hand techniques we also teach traditional weapons forms and though this has some practical application in the modern world, the emphasis when studying these is on the heritage of the art and the mental focus practice engenders.
